I'm about to get my first smart phone soon and I was wondering what you people thought! I really like the N95 but its way out of my price range. I am leaning towards the Curve, I can get unlimited data, 1000 min, unlimited text mess for around 60 bucks ( seems to be the best deal). If the iPhone was open to developers I would probably get it.
If you are with Verizon and up for a new every two, you can pick up the Palm Treo 700wx for $199 after the rebate. That is what I did this weekend. It is all I need.
They are the most evil of all evil telcos. Suing the FCC for requiring an open wireless spectrum?! TWIT fans especially should avoid Verizon at all costs.
Treo 755p. Got to Sprint SERO account and ended up with a $26 a month bill and the phone for free. Personally I think it is a great phone, even compared to the Mogul or the Dash.
I own all four of those phones. The iPhone is the top pick for me, but then I only have a need to use it within the boundaries Apple has established. The N95 is a great phone with regards to feature set. When I am overseas, I really appreciate the opportunity to use VOIP via Project Gizmo to make free/cheap calls. The interface on the N95 is a little clunky and I've been underwhelmed with the media capabilities.
The Curve is a nice phone. Lots of good features and especially nice data plans available on most networks.
The Dash I am not impressed with and would not recommend.
Overall, the iPhone is a great phone, has a great web browser and decent email client, and a fantastic media player (its an iPod of course). In the end it depends what is important to you.
I think im gonna go with the iPhone becuase it seems like it has the best Web Browsing expierence...gonna have to pay the extra 10 a month to upgrade to more TXT
Oh come on TWITters, clearly the iPhone is the only choice here. It's alien technology come to earth, fer gawd sakes. Seriously, it puts everything else to shame at the moment.
Go get a T-Mobile prepaid SIM ($10) and slap it into a Dash. I unlocked mine and threw an AT&T SIM and I'm glad I did it. it's a good entry level smartphone, but a tad slow. If you NEED data, you still have the WiFi and the option of switching to FlexPay and drop a data plan on that sucker. That way you can still jump to the gPhone and resell the Dash (It goes for about $200 used, maybe $250-300 unlocked.
I got a dash, one of the best windows mobile phones i have used. I have MDA and if you want proper use out of it you will have to flash it with a cooked rom.
if you really want to go all get a phone that handles bluetooth dun ... least expensive and get yourself a nokia n800/n810 ... now thats a proper internet device ;) .

I'd wait until Google finally reveals this gPhone. It's only a few months away. A two year contract with any telco is a deal with the devil.

The N95 is nice. I only have the MDA because it was the best phone T-Mobile had at the time. Rumor has it T-Mobile will have the gPhone... who knows.

I would if they weren't the only cell-telco that worked every where I travel. But for now it has to be VZW for me.

N95 & don't hold your breath for a gPhone. Google has never made hardware and in my opinion they aren't going to start!

i know this is a N00B question....But what is MDA?
2 years, 1 month ago by RonAcierno
I'm not sure, but I know that a 'PDA' is a Personal Data Assistant, so it would stand to reason that MDA is Mobile Data Assistant - I think.

Of course they aren't making hardware. It will be a combination of software and services paired with existing devices.
