Wordpress is by far one of the best for plain blogging but for a multiple platform such as the one you are asking for I would have to go with drupal but thats only my opinion good luck
Hey Scott I have to agree Drupal does tend to get a bit complicated, honestly i do miss wordpress a lot ... but I have invested so much time in drupal that I I don't want to leave ... I sound like a battered spouse I know
I've heard good things about both, but I've been leaning towards wordpress simply for the fact that it seems to have the easier learning curve. I've hear a lot of good things about drupal, and it looks to be a little more powerful, but also a bit more complicated.
As long as you're hosting your video somewhere else that has an embedded flash player available and you're not planning to host your own audio podcasts but link to an external service, I can't see why Wordpress won't provide everything you need.
I suspect that Drupal may be overkill but that's just one man's opinion.
Will you be the only updater or will there be mulitple authors?
would i need to host my video and audio somewhere else if i have my own domain and hosting, and am using wordpress to create the look of the site? i would think it would be easier to host my audio/video on the same server...
The issue becomes one of what sort of download capacity your hosting plan will have as well as the amount of space you have available to you. Every time someone downloads a video or audio file, that comes off your monthly bandwidth allowance. It would be far easier to upload the file somewhere and then embed it on your site. That way someone else pays for the hosting space and the download bandwidth, all while the video is played from your site.
I love Wordpress. It's the easiest CMS/Blogging solution I have used to date. It's got the right amount of users contributing to support and third party extensions which really makes this piece of code shine.

I'm looking to make a running blog/podcast/vidcast for my tv show and film projects, incase that helps at all.
