Very much in favour of this - could be a simple extension of the playlist concept - builds the playlist based on nowplaying for current user. If you want to do this, the you might consider simply being able to play RSS feeds of songs - (in which case Last.fm does the job)
Wrt DJ-ing from a mac - I think one could probably hack it with either smart folders or just by polling the guistate file instead of the smart resource friendly file listener I'm using now - if the Mac version of Spotify has the same config files of course
read blog post linked above. There's a fixed text file on my web server with a url, when the url changes (or on first load) it should be loaded by browser in separate window or something like that.
@Funza - its a proof of concept. For geeks. You need to download a perl script, adapt it for your own needs, hook it up to a webserver, and so on. In short, this thing needs packaging.
LATEST: The player now works at http://www.classy.dk/cgi-bin/djspotify.pl - this changes tracks when I change tracks.
The proof of concept is now complete. Next up: Hosting players for all the rest of you. Stay tuned, you will all be DJing shortly.
Any spotify-staff here? Would really like to be able to load spotify urls without the app grabbing focus. Is there a way. Could you make a way?
BTW. It's so much simpler to use Last.fm for building something like this (URL based and with a real API. Sample URL), unfortunately it will only give you 30 sec previews for the majority of tracks :-( - or will it give you full tracks if you're a subscriber?

Combined with this and Jaiku, all we'd need to party without leaving the comfort of our homes, would be a cheap stripper each..

Wendelboe, you have created a confusion about all later answers - are people approving of "personal stripper" og "DJ mode" ?

OK, here's a very early version of a DJ mode hack for Spotify http://www.classy.dk/hacks/archives/003936.html From now on you can hear what I'm hearing at http://www.classy.dk/cgi-bin/djspotify.pl - Windows only for now - sorry Wendelboe, I need to get a Mac before I can make a hack for you as well...

Anyone want to contribute a " DJ client" - i.e. a minimal webpage that polls http://www.classy.dk/download/nowplaying.txt for changes and loads the next track when it does ?

If you're listening to SlagsmÄlsklubben right now, it works on Mac too..

Yes this is a light weight helpers for Spotify users to share music - not some kind of file sharing/piracy/information wants to be free type thing

And this will open the track in Spotity http://open.spotify.com/track/ + your encoded track information?

yep

Do you have an example of a working URL that will play a track, and I guess I need a Spotify account ;-)

No Spotify accounts in Denmark at the moment sadly :( - the urls I'm djing now work fine if one has Spotify

OK, guess I'll focus my hack on Last.fm then ;-)

Morten tells me the guistate file also lives on a mac. I rewrote the script so it now also works on a Mac. v. 0.0.2 is here!

eh - and how do I make it work, if I want to dj?
