Using Jaiku at reboot by SMS with real contacts doing close by things = revelation

I considered doing that too but was worried about having to delete 50+ messages an hour like I did with #esc. Looked like #reboot was more manageable though, should have tried it.
The TV backchannel seems to be too intensive (in terms of # of Jaikus) for receiving SMS messages; it could work if one was able to choose 1-3 persons whose SMSs to receive. However, it was a great experience to watch the ESC backchannel comments from a separate screen on an autorefreshing browser window.
On the other hand, I agree with Peter that SMS is great for events and everything happening around them.
We're still figuring out the best use cases for "mobile-terminated" (i.e. Jaiku-to-users) SMS: any ideas/comments are more than welcome!
@petteri: the ESC event was indeed very cool. I'm still for the idea you guys had of having "!urgent" jaikus that would go through SMS even if other jaikus didn't. So "great speech!" would go in the regular overview and not to SMS, but "!My passport is missing! If anyone finds it, let me know!" would also go as SMS to those who have allowed "Urgent"s to come through. Likewise "@petteri: I found your passport" would go as a comment, and directly to that person's SMS. I keep harping on this because I'd love to have it. :)
I'd also love to see a channel's overview in my phone, even if I could only jaiku through SMS. I assume you guys are working on ways to have your entire overview in your phone and commentable, but if you're not there yet, this would be a fine compromise for now. I missed a comment on a jaiku at reboot because it dropped off the public screens before someone commented on it.

also, of course, the use of the icons is a form of folksonomy. i'd like to be able to search jaikus somehow by icon. hmm. . .
