yes, but the problem seems related with the fact that pjaiku can't open the "./.config" file in write mode. Do you have permision to write in that dir? could be an bad owner set issue? (for example you decompressed with root and then tried to execute with a normal user)
i have fixed a minor bug (from a new incompleted feature) that maybe affects you if you not execute it first time from pjaiku path or you move it after that

Very weird, i tested again many times in several computers and works without problems
any of you could you paste your console output in pastebin.com or similar site?
.config file it's created when you run pjaiku from first time (after ask you about your username and api key)

yeah, that is the expected behavior. "desktop" file is only provided as reference.
The instructions are only about execute the pjaiku.py file from a console (check README file)
