I will release version 0.4.2.2 first in unstable repository later today or tomorrow. It will be upcoming version 0.5.0 that is a major new release and should be out at Friday evening (EET). However, the version 0.5.0 is propably not rock solid, but should be usable enough. It should stabilize during the series of 0.5.x.
Let's see if there will be some buzz around the new version. :) The UI is pretty much the same, but the release will change the way we speak about Mauku...
Ah, that makes sense. As I said, I'm sure I'll get used to it, the only hidden menu option is Close, and I use the x in the top right corner for that (or the close gesture) so I probably won't even miss it.
WHOA - actually now that i've added my twitter ... it's all in one stream which is surprising easy to deal with. Good use of color and thinking around a single point of view for conversation
I think I have published the very first version of Mauku (v 0.1.0) on Monday, 16 July, 2007. However, it was not widely known. The first public version was 0.1.2 that was released on Wednesday, 25 July, 2007. I declared that day as the official birthday of Mauku.
Thus, today Mauku is celebrating its first anniversary.
As you can see, something very big has happened. First, read the channel description or the information from Mauku web site (http://mauku.henrikhedberg.com/). The latest additions are available only in unstable brach for now, but the official release of the version 0.5.0 of Mauku will be next week (sorry about the delay).
Seems a bit faster in .4.2.2; I'm not on twitter so that doesn't help me; I'll have to play later as I'm getting on the road to DC for the weekend in a bit
OK, it's better, but it is not better... It seems to be quite unstable for now. There are some issues with the libcurl (HTTP network connections) that causes Mauku to crash. That is the reason the official release will be postponed until next week.
Wonderful. Waiting for the official release to upgrade. Is there any plan to make Mauku available on the Linux desktop as well? Another Maemo application, Vagalume, is now my standard Last.fm client on both my Linux desktop and N8x0 tablet.
@hhedberg I know you've already mentioned libcurl issues, but it seems to me every other refresh doesn't display all jaikus / tweets wheras the next refresh they will reappear. Also, I've seen some items listed in the wrong time order (possibly related to comments in the expired time section at the bottom...)
It also appears to crash a little more often, but the new functionality means I'll live with that for a week :)
Just updated to Mauku 0.5.1. Same results. It crashes as soon as I try to post. I installed 0.5.1 over 0.5.0. Will an uninstall followed by a clean install make a difference?

@hhedberg: Oh, sounds good, can't wait. Should we be waiting in unstable or user repo?

lol, yeah, I installed 0.4.2.1 yesterday in anticipation too...
Not sure I like the larger font on the menu, although I suppose I'll get used to it.

@swing, I emphasize finger usage in Mauku. Thus the larger font on the menu.

Any ETA on 0.4.2.2 arriving in the repo?

Some history lesson when you upgrade your Maukus:

@hhedberg Laconica has Twitter compatible API, do you have any plans to Identi.ca too?

@tabrez, I had some plans for Pownce, but it should be quite easy to add new sites now. Let's see what happens...
11 months, 1 week ago by hhedberg
It's much faster, and doesn't stall out when updating. Great stuff @hhedberg.

Oh, and the fact it posts to Jaiku even if you only select Twitter needs fixing before 0.5 gets released please!
