Which repository are you using? Unstable is not official and only for N800/IT OS 2007 currently. Please remove the unstable repo if you have it, and use the standard install file:
There was a wrong version in chinook repo. I definitely should automatize the release process and not to copy packages manually, since there is three different versions of Mauku now.
I fixed the problem (hopefully). Please, refresh the package list and try again.
May be the toolbar should be reorganized (in Mauku and in Maemo :). Actually, if the new IT OS is more finger oriented, there should be a possibility to increase the size of the toolbar icons.
Never heard about that script. Actually, I have not seen the iPhone either. I just coded the kinetic scrolling from scratch after I saw the video presenting the kinetic scroller implemented in Python.
My kinetic scrolling widget is available as a separate library for anyone that wishes to use it: http://miaouw.henrikhedberg.com/
Ah! So that was what you meant by kinetic scrolling. :) Great widget! It should be included in all the apps that scroll -- the browser, PDF viewer, Notes, etc.
I could not agree more. It is quite a surprise that the standard scrolling widget does not support even panning (drag scrolling as I call it). It has to be implemented separately for every app. Thus, I implemented my own widget as a drop-in replacement for the standard widget. Actually, it even supports scrolling in both two dimensions. Maybe I should promote it more, so that developers could begin to use it more.
If you are interested in the Miaouw kinetic scrolling widget, there is a demo (example) available in the site now. It can be installed in IT OS 2007 (N800).
Pure vertical or horizontal scrolling is OK (as Mauku proves also), but diagonal scrolling is not smooth enough yet. The new IT OS 2008 could improve the speed (the frequency of CPU is higher, and propably some other things), and I should also finetune the widget somehow later.
Cool, works great here on n810. I would increase the width of the toolbar buttons to make them more thumbable. Check ie. how the Images application does it.
Oh wait, Images is not open sourced. But Mauku is not either. Too bad.
Yes, it will. The opening of the code has been postponed, because I have focused on the issues with Jaiku API (v0.2.7->v0.2.8), kinetic scrolling, and Chinook compatibility (v0.2.9). Next version should be open... :)
Anyways, I appreciate the attention to details in Mauku. Like ie. it uses multiple windows and blinking icon for notifications. It integrates very well with the platform, great work.
LED is a good idea that I have had in mind. I haven't checked the Chinool API, but in Maemo 3.0 the procedure to use LED was quite... well, not so sophisticated.
Yes, they are. IIRC, some LED presets can be issued when sending the notification or you can use also an existing DBUS service for setting those presets.

Nice to hear! So, everything is ready for the masses getting Chinook in November. :)

yup! Just some minor suggestions: maybe have comment icon bigger for the thumb. Refresh icon can be at the right. :)

Unfortunately the toolbar height is determined by HildonWindow, you can't really change the button sizes too much.
I'd remove the settings and about buttons, though, they're needed exactly about once IMO.

Of course, if the distance between icons was longer, it feels like the buttons would be bigger. Lower chances to hit the wrong item.

are you using somewhat like an accelorometer script on Mauku? Flicking up and down works like the iPhone!

If you are interested, you can watch one of the iPhone ads showing the same feature: http://www.apple.com/iphone/ads/ad5/

I think LED/notifications should be simplified now.
@jobi: maybe you can comment?
