    might check out growl, quicksilver, subversion, XCode, iLife 08 (if it didnt come installed, mine came on a separate DVD) really depends on what you like to do i guess.

    yea, what kind of stuff do you envision yourself doing on your new macbook? I think growl and quicksilver are a must for anyone.

    mostly, web surfing, means browsers, word processing, listing to music, look at videos, chatting (IM and IRC), burning, downloading, bit torrent, etc etc. Web stuff.

    Firefox is my browser of choice. I'll second Quicksilver and Growl. iChat works well for me, I like the integration with the addressbook and QuickSilver.

    Cyberduck FTP, SFTP client

    MacFuse and MacFusion Mount FTP and SSH locations as drives

    Disk Inventory X Visualization of used space on your HD

    DragThing Cool extra dock, can keep there folders, docs and other apps

    FinkCommander Open source package manager, basically a GUI for apt-get. Makes the installation of open source software really easy.

    GlowWorm Firewall app.

    iCalViewer Cool visualization of the incoming appointments

    iClip Clipboard manager

    iGTD If you are into the GTD (gettting-things-done) methodology, this is a great tool

    iShowU Capture video out of the screen, good tool to generate screen-casts, tutorials

    iStumbler Find wifi access-points

    iTerm Cool terminal, with tabs!

    Journler Nice generic app for note-taking and keeping track of thoughts

    KisMAC WEP, WPA cracker, might come handy...

    MarcoPolo Location tracker, can set computer settings according to where you are e.g. office, home, cafe, etc

    Monolingual Remove uneeded language files, frees up a good deal of disk space

    MoodBlast Control connection status of skype/adium/ichat/jaiku/etc all from a single place

    Papers iTunes for PDFs and other docs

    SuperDuper! Backups with this, makes/updates a mirror of the HD, quick and complete.

    snvX subversion GUI

    The Unarchiver Nice package manager

    Tidy Up! Find stuff like duplicated files and clean them up
