might check out growl, quicksilver, subversion, XCode, iLife 08 (if it didnt come installed, mine came on a separate DVD) really depends on what you like to do i guess.
mostly, web surfing, means browsers, word processing, listing to music, look at videos, chatting (IM and IRC), burning, downloading, bit torrent, etc etc. Web stuff.
Firefox is my browser of choice. I'll second Quicksilver and Growl. iChat works well for me, I like the integration with the addressbook and QuickSilver.

yea, what kind of stuff do you envision yourself doing on your new macbook? I think growl and quicksilver are a must for anyone.
