@expatpaul Which people? I think I've been on Jaiku for about 18 months (roughly) and at first I ignored it as I joined when 2 other people did (@gerrymoth and @munkimatt). I didn't know them either they were just on the same helpful forum for a phone make I don't use now.
I now have 100+ I follow and 100+ follow me. Some are no longer active. I do prune people out sometimes now, and join random conversations of other followers, because Jaiku works that way (hence crashing this).
If someone makes me laugh or think or something I often add them and I don't only speak when I'm spoken too.
Asa result I can tune in any hour of any day and find something of interest, IT'S GREAT
@WaveyDavey001: I can see what you're saying and I think the great thing about Jaiku is that you don't have to follow a whole bunch of random people just to see what conversations develop. That said, it's great because there are people posting comments into channels which interest me - and the more people posting to channels the more conversations can develop.
However, if you are using Hardy then there is a bug which is currently being worked on. You can get around it by downgrading libwebkit to 1.0.1-4+r38688~hardyppa1
nope, I'm needing both, and beside the icons, jaiku is so much better on mobile... if only I could use sms to update my status. As far as this last point is concerned both Jaiku and Twitter don't work with sms in Italy, actually updates can be sent to twitter but no notification whatsoever... that's a serious hampering to a good mobile experience
Folks, Jaiku is hands down the better platform & I would never leave Jaiku for Twitter. Having said that I am disappointed that Jaiku has not moved forward much since the Google purchase!

@mescan: NEVER NEVER EVER. Jaiku is much better! if Jaiku doesn't fit your needs, then try identi.ca that is FOSS

@mescan: That's like leaving Internet for Telefax. I can't really come up with a good idea why someone would do that.

More people, yes - More conversation and sociability an emphatic NO

Twitter has more people but Jaiku is better designed for conversation. At the moment I'm following both but would love to see Jaiku pick up

@helenka: Whyever not? Surely the more people on a network the better?

@ExpatPaul: I use it for shouting... :-) Less czech people here. :-D If necessary, I will shout only at my blog.

@helenka: Maybe it's just me then, but I like to think someone is listening even if I am only ranting

The more people, No. The more communication, Yes.

@WaveyDavey001: To an extent, but you need the people before you can have the communication

just use both why do you or anyone have to choose

@CiaranR: Some people feel they must pick one to have a sense of exclusivity/elitism or whatever you want to call it.

Jaiku rocks because you never know where the conversation will lead. It can be serious fun and fighting all in one.

With a Nokia N800 and Mauku you can have best of both worlds with jaiku/twitter :)

@gerrymoth: Agreed - I have Mauku on my N810 and it's fantastic. Gwibber on Ubuntu also allows you to follow both

Jaiku is very good. Identi.ca is very good too. From a company made in Quebec, Canada !

@expatpaul still to try gwibber in my ubuntu system, last time i looked it didn't look good and a bit of a hassle to install
11 months, 3 weeks ago by gerrymoth
@gerrymoth: I didn't have too much problem installing, using the instructions on this page https://wiki.ubuntu.com/gwibber

Getting SMS text updates and leaving updates by text makes Jaiku simple--and sometimes free--to use.
