@TheLocehiliosan: In the US, T-Mobile blocks the number and there also seem to be a problem with Qwest. Not sure if you use either of these providers, but if you do, that may be the problem.
@ArthurGuy: Did you receive an activation code via SMS from the site? If yes, try sending a 'Test' message to see if that works.
I didn't receive the activation code, I have tried several times over the past few days. I am entering the number in the international format +447.... I assume if this isn't correct the system would let me know?
Hmm, perhaps it has something to do with the issues they have been having with SMS:

@BigEclipse Sorry, I guess I should qualify and say SMS doesn't work for me and some others. I'm not going to jailbreak when July 11th is so close. Anyhow, SMS should just work. I'm glad it works for you, but that doesn't help me, or build my confidence in Jaiku.

The site accepts my number but doesn't do anything. Perhaps there are problems with certain networks?

I've made several attempts today to register my mobile number (in the US). I never get the activation code sent to my phone. :(

@BigEclipse My provider is AT&T. So far 5 failed attempts at activating. SMS is working with other systems for me.

Great... Jaiku's SMS is broke - Twitter's IM is broke. What's the third option that I'm not aware of yet?

Actually the SMS does work, i just sent a message. At any rate, you can always use a Jaiku mobile client: http://jaikufans.com/tools/clients/mobile
