That's the spammer philosophy. All I have is your email address, so I'll send you crap. This isn't the channel for it. Let people who are interested in what you have to say see it -- they've befriended you so they do see what you have to say.

i've asked in the past for an OFFICIAL #chat or #offtopic channel but still there isnt one!
Maybe I should create a new user, and put those two channels there!

It's a little hard to ignore when it comes up in my stream when I watch out for Jaiku bug reports and the like with this channel. It's nice that you want to wish lots of people well, but also consider that perhaps there might also be a lot of people who don't like St Valentine's Day and would prefer not to be reminded?
It's just not the appropriate place for it, regardless of how well intentioned you are. My concern is that a growing number of people seem to treat this channel as some Jaiku-wide chat, making it harder for people with actual problems with the system to get their important signal through the noise.
@BUGabundo and everyone else: I've just opened #jaikuzzi as a social channel for posting this and anything else you care to talk about that isn't Jaiku-support related.
@passionvaibhav: Feel free to wish everyone a happy valentine's day in there.
If you want a larger audience, promote it. (ie, make a personal Jaiku along the lines of "Joined #jaikuzzi: the unofficial Jaiku social channel")
