I use Cingular. I was able to get the activiation but not able to send or receive updates. I am hearing that they are working on getting a US shortcode activated to fix these problems but as of yet, we are in a bad place when it comes to mobile usage.
luckily I'm in europe and it worked first time for me.. I'm sure there was a place to send email if you wanted manual activation... but I'd have to search #jaiku for it

I'm with Sprint and I can't even get an activation code. Being able to send and receive updates from my mobile is what I like about Twitter.

I could not a find a way to manually activate. It would be nice if that is in fact the case.
