No. US mobile service providers don't do international SMS. There's supposedly deals in the works to get a local shortcode, however this is taking way longer than credibly believable.
@malach (who will see this!) .. it's time to change the info on the site about using SMS to point out that it doesn't work in the US. "Any day now" or "getting close" just isn't happening.
Okay I was just interested in the SMS interface because it seemed faster and it would be nice to get SMS whenever I got a new Jaiku. The main site (non-mobile) works perfectly fine for me on the iPhone. Especially when on wi-fi

not via SMS. But you can from http://m.jaiku.com/ on your data plan.
