The Dynabook development in essnace resulted in what we now know as the laptop computer - without the development of the dynabook by xerox chances are there would be no such thing as the laptop computer.
The Dynabook was special because it allowed and more importantly challenged us humans to create a new medium, which could change the world for the better.Free knowledge, Free thought, Free people
The Dynabook concept was so special because as alanjohnson007 said ..it was the predecessor to laptops...which have since developed to hand-held palm-tops and more recently Blackberries (Its like your office away from your office about the size of a mobile phone) All of these would not exist without the invention of the Dynabook which was a new means of interaction and communication with the world...not just a machine
The Dynabook brought forth the concept of a portable computer, and is the basic concept for all modern day laptops.Not only did the development of the Dynabook influence the computer indusries hardware, it also affected the software.GUI grapic user interface- this is the most important development in modern computing in my opion...windows would not exist without this development and people would be typing away at command lines for hours.
The Dynabook was a dream how to make computer more popular and easy to use. Now we can see this dream - a multipurpose portable computer with wireless connection and graphic user interface- icons, menus and windows on the computer screen to present information.
