It's a bit of work, partitioning seems to be where I am off, even following all the guides it was a rough slog. Want to revisit when mmoney comes to visit... she is the linux queen
while I'd love the apps, I think the idea of running a desktop type of system in a pocketable device I largely use with my fingers is not ideal. Maemo is designed to be optimized for handheld use which is what makes it powerful - though having all these additional apps would be very sweet.

Have you tried this? I personally don't see the benefit as a linux novice, but certainly seems very cool.
