I'd love a drive up by the lakes in summer but how about Terryglass (not far from Birr) on the lake-side instead? It's a beautiful spot. Didn't you say there's a place with free wifi there @EvertB
We had one BBQ last year - in April! Too wet for the rest of it. Still tho. I'm thinkin Texas BBQ, Salt Lick style with ribs and 14 hour cooked brisket.
A friend of mine lives near there and won the all-ireland BBQ championship a few years back. I am sure that I can convince him to take care of the food.
Deadly. That all sounds legend. Looking forward to seeing www.opencoffee.ie. Terryglass is indeed a great spot. I have fond memories of Terryglass from summers on the Shannon as a child.
@EvertB dunno how I missed it, excellete! Really looking forward to this now, been in Terryglass only a few times but each time was blessed by gorgeous weather and my memories of the spot are wonderful. BTW @alexleonard OpenCoffee.ie is now live but only with a "Hello World" message as yet, thumb typed on an Asus EeePC today while held in mid air. Two weeks of a trial and it wasn't until today I realized I could use it like that :-)
@EirePreneur Ah right - I thought the Hello World post meant it was still en-route ;)
I've been reading your various reviews of the EeePC, must say it sounds quite nifty, although I think I should resist any temptation as I don't really travel enough to justify having yet another gadget. I can imagine I would use it a bit, but I tend to use my E65 for basic mail checking and google reader when I can't be bothered taking out the laptop.
But that's the thing about the EeePC Alex, during my two weeks trial it wasn't used as a portable device at all, just as a perfectly good desktop/laptop replacement (ie. my laptop has been my main office PC for the last 3 years). But of course it really shines as a mobile device too, feeling more like a hardback book in your hand than a luggable laptop. I guess I'm sounding more and more like an ambassador for Asus, as Damien Mulley might say, but it really is the most excited I've been about a gadget in years. I had to return it to @jbkenn today but am sure I'll be buying one myself before the year is down.

@EvertB has suggested Birr. That's not so far!

Ah sure I'd probably be up for driving to Birr. It's about and hour and a bit away from us in the thriving metropolis that is Ballinamuck...

I'll head towards Terryglass for a July or August OpenCoffee session if any of the main Limerick players draw me a map.

@topgold maybe @everb will add his wifi hotspot to the collaborative map - http://snipurl.com/irishhotspots - and... problem solved :)

And OpenBBQ get my thumbs up too. Just as long as @conoro or someone else who knows something about food (ie. not me) is doing the cooking.
