    If you're looking for a good non-portable solution, Geek Stuff 4U has an excellent product. It allows any internal drive to act like an external and won't be tied to just one drive.

    Try the Lacie 500gb hard drive. I got it for $129. It's designed by Porsche (nice aluminium finish)

    I have a Seagate Freeagent Pro 750 Gb. Cheap, Good Performance, and it looks great. I used to do my own enclosure, but these days it's more or less the same price with the commercial one, so I didn't bother this time.
