Normal attendance rates at previous barcamps was about 70% of signed up attendees - how did that compare to BCG?

I saw John's post in my feedreader that it was around 50%? Though the post is gone from the blog now.

Wow, that's low compared to the other BC's... wonder why he's dropping posts???

I've got John's post too in my feed reader and can understand why he removed it, though think he shouldn't have, even though I'm probably one of the no-shows his anger was aimed at. I've apologized on Aidan's blog for that because I really should have given notification, although it wasn't until late Friday evening I finally accepted that I just couldn't make.

John, don't be shy about putting back the post, that's the kind of honesty that blogging is all about. You can always change your mind later about what you said, if you want to.

Could be right, but these days once posted, I don't believe you have a moral right to remove. Update post and retract, but everything is stored somewhere...

Hmmm, when I read this I checked back on my blog and even though I could still see it (as I was logged in) my post had changed from public to private - it's public again... I edited it earlier and changed "great day" to "brilliant day", so maybe I accidentally clicked on something (although the private option is kind of hidden so can't imagine how?!).

Anyway, nothing to hide - we had 48 people according to the sign-up list, and I'd guess 35-40 no-shows. The figures aren't important (although if only 15 had not shown I probably wouldn't have made a fuss) - it's the attitude of "I'll sign up", "it's for free", "there's no commitment", "I don't have to go anyway or tell anyone if I don't go" that I don't like...
