Right. I was thinking doubling from 64 on the 770 to 128 on the N800 was nice, but another doubling would be even better. I'd rather have more ram and the same CPU as the N800. Either way, I'm sold.
The specs look very close to the N800. The main differences are 1) slider, 2) built-in GPS, 3) 2GB fixed 'internal' card rather than the internal card slot of the N800. It still listed 128MB RAM/256MB Flash, just like the N800 has. The only reason I can think of for going with the fixed 2gb internal 'card' is one of space reasons, to fit the slider mechanism in plus the GPS. Personally, I'd prefer they had kept the internal card slot.
All in all, I don't see a reason to upgrade to this from my N800. I am pretty comfortable (& quick) at typing on the virtual keyboard on the N800, and I don't really need a built-in GPS. Since they don't seem to have really upgraded any of the rest of the guts of the device, it's gonna be a hard sell to existing N800 users.
The N810 spec sheet listed the CPU at 400mhz. Anyone recall what the speed of the N800's CPU is?
speaking of, has the virtual ram limit been removed? On the n800 you could designate part of your internal memory card as virtual memory, but only up to 128mb
@rcadden: I keep it in hands, but probably it is better if @NseriesWOMWorld will help you with pics - I'm not perfect in things description for sales purposes ;)
How about the screen?? Is this the kind with touch membrane or is it all glass? Also does the slide out keyboard have to be open in order for GPS to function properly (like on N95..if closed GPS antenna is obstructed by the screen and has a crippled reception)
speaking of, has the virtual ram limit been removed? On the n800 you could designate part of your internal memory card as virtual memory, but only up to 128mb: the max size for virtual memory is still 128mb
question from Internet Tablet Talk: I notice the light sensor there above the camera. Will that provide for gradual dimming of the screen brightness or just two levels like the N95?
Does the new OS contain a (standardized) kenetic scroller widget for developers to use, rather than everyone having to re-invent one as is currently being done?
Any other notable changes for developer widgets/APIs?
@CAW, it seems that the new IT OS (Chinook) is not providing the standardized kinetic scrolling widget. Luckily there is the Miaouw Library available for everyone to use under LGPL in Maemo Garage.
let's name it - we haven't had enough time to test N800 on higher freq to be sure what we do, and one has no power over time in sense of squeezing it to run thorough testing.
I don't think it's either.. the N810 just has the ability to meter the CPU so when you need it it's maxed and when you don't you get more battery life.
@silpol I would assume that it's a conscious decision whether to underclock or overclock the processor. How well it might actually do in that situation is a matter of what QA says. ;) The new version certainly seems faster, though.
Transflective screen, is it finally included on this iteration? How viewable is the screen in direct sunlight?
Is there a hard case included like the nokia 770?
PM: Yes we have new screen that works better in sunlight.
No we do not have same kind of hard case as for 770. But we have improved the pouch from N800, no it's bit thicker and gives better protection for the device.

PM: yes that's ambient light sensor, it automatically adjust the lightness of the display and keyboard lights

why only 2gb built in? with the iphone/ipod touch having at least 4gb, and up to 8gb?

Sorry if this was written somewhere in the specs, I may have missed it -- are there two memory card slots on the N810?

@jezlyn, nope, just one miniSD

Is that a Navi Wheel? As in an N81 Navi Wheel?

@thecreativelife: Good question... That would be cool, though I guess since the whole screen is a touch interface, it probably isn't.

Just wondering why the screen resolution colours wasn't up to perhaps 262k?

Is that really enough RAM? I will buy one but my 770 with 64meg was a little painful.

I saw 128mb of ram on the spec sheet

@CAW, 330 MHz, but there are hacks to make it run faster. The processor is really the same.

Does the N810 have TV out? Sorry if this is a dim question, for all I know the N800 has TV out already! (^_^)

@thecreativelife: NO tv-out, and N800 doesn't either - at least officially.

The speed of CPU is dependent on OS version, with OS 2008 we run also N800 CPU at 400mhz
