Web server outage

Update: All services are now up and running again. According to our data center provider, the power failure that affected Jaiku this Sunday was caused by the meltdown of a mains switch and disrupted the servers of over 8,000 customers.

A power failure at about 9am PST (7pm EET) today at the data center provider where Jaiku’s servers are located caused an outage on jaiku.com. We are back up and running, but it will take some more time before all services are fully operational. We apologize for the service break and are working to get all functions back to normal as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience!

Whew! I was worried you guys were going to become the next Twitter when you were down for so long.

I dread the day where I see a failwhale on Jaiku.

Posting is still disabled at the moment, but our servers are now back on the grid and we’re working to re-enable posting as quickly as possible.

This was a power outage at the datacenter, caused by faulty equipment that is being replaced. 1500 servers and 8000 customers were bitten by this problem.

  5. Jyri Says:

Jaiku Mobile users, please note that some items posted during the server outage will linger at the top of the Jaiku Mobile overview stream for the next 7 hours or so. This behavior is temporary and was caused by an issue with the time stamps of the updates received during the outage.

I can’t seem to add feeds to my profile now. I get a “No feeds found at that address” even for feeds that previously worked. Is this connected to the outage?

Like Grant there said, you can’t add feeds to your profile at the moment. I’ve not found any mentions of this from anywhere (not from #Jaiku within Jaiku, nor via quick searches), so please make a post about it here and if possible to #jaiku channel as well.
    Thanks.
