Pagination and Feed URLs
May 24th, 2007
Snuck a couple small features in over the last couple days that we thought we might point out:
First, pagination has changed a little, changing from a list of page numbers to just older/newer links. This change will make some minor speed improvements but may not be the final decision so you are invited to give feedback. Also, by popular request, pagination was added to the overview page.
Second, in the list of feeds related to your Jaiku stream you will notice some have become links. As we get new updates from feeds we’ve also begun recording the url that the feed points to. They are only updated when there is actually new content pulled from the site so you may want to update something in a feed if you notice a link is missing.
Antti Tähtinen Says:
Both are really good improvements. Just to challenge you to do even more:
- Usability-wise: you can comment on a Jaiku by clicking the actual text, which is then underlined. However, to comment on a comment, it doesn’t work the same way - instead you have to be smart enough to click on the comment topic. Why actually?
- Comments that are not addressed to me (but are from my contacts) should be somehow separeted from ‘Comments directly to me’ and ‘Comments to discussions I’ve taken part in’. Now the discussion between my friends and some people I don’t even know take a big share of my Overview page. This makes it hard to use Jaiku for the most important thing - to see what people are doing, to browse their weblinks, etc. Maybe make the font even smaller, or try to simplify it in a single line without the yellow highlighting? (In the cases when it’s not addressed to me or to a discussion I’m taking part in.)

Thank you! Lots of Venezuelan bloggers are using jaiku to comment about the current political situation. About the list of messages, its a pain having to go back until the last entry I read.
Another stuff: I need a widget for adding the RSS to my blog! I used some I found around, but it would be more cool if you have the option with your look-and-feel.

Jyri: do you have a place to submit suggestions? It’d be really useful if I could see the current time in my contact’s location, on the right along with their current location etc. Would that be possible?

Hi,
I still cannot get Jaiku to recognize feeds from smugmug.com. I’d like to add a feed to a stream gallery, like [this one](feed://www.ebyron.com/hack/feed.mg?Type=gallery&Data=2930901&format=atom03)
thought I would let you know,
Byron

It would be nice if there were some way to post via IM or email, for those of us who don’t want to use all our texts to update Jaiku, but would like to maximize our utilization of the site.

Laura: We’re working on IM integration. Meanwhile, you can start posting to Jaiku from IM using IMified: http://imified.com

hey jaiku team !
I would like to ask if it’s planed or even possible to be able to
receive rss feeds updates by sms ?
when i visit other channels i can see a “subscribe” link under each feed, but in my own channel or profil i can’t see those links to subscribe…;and well this would be a great stuff to have, the possibility to follow any rss feed by sms…
would be great also to be able to choose to receive notifications from message or rssfeed (to be able to choose both or one or another) it give more flexibilty in my point of view :)
voila that’s all i wanted to suggest !
cheers,
B.

Guys, why are the feeds out of Jaiku exposed as Content-Type: text/plain instead of text/xml? My blog’s feed reader won’t touch it.
