It would be nice (and important!?) to be able to sort Jaiku contacts up and down on phone list AS WELL as in web interface. That way it is possible to make groups from all Jaiku members.

Sauli: Thanks for the suggestion. The next release of the mobile client will display contacts in order of latest updated. The contact list on the right of the Overview page on the Web already does that.
We\’re not currently working on groups functionality but if folks keep asking for that we will definitely consider it.

Jyri et al.: Just keep the option open for the alphabetical ordering… That’s pretty much the standard for this kind of contact lists…

Yes, I have been waiting for MONTHS for a re-compile for 3rd Edition, these devices are what Nokia are focusing on now, why does it have such a low priority with you ?
I do understand that this is a free product probably done in your spare time, but to gain momentum I believe that you must look forward, not backward.
People who will run Jaiku are probably early adopters who will also upgrade their handsets often..

Michael, we recently shipped a major release for the 2nd Edition phones and that edition includes a lot of (mainly internal) changes we had to do before releasing the 3rd Edition client. We also added a lot of functionality for making the installation and configuration of the service easier / automatic.
Unfortunately, 3rd Edition requires much more than just recompiling the code, but the bulk of this work is already done. The mobile team is now focusing solely on the 3rd Ed client, which will be our next client release.
We are getting more and more frequent requests for the 3rd Edition client, so be assured, we’ll work hard to release the client as soon as possible. (You are absolutely right: nowadays early adopters tend to have 3rd Edition handsets.)
PS. We actually have full-time programmers–and even a few others–working for Jaiku! :-)

Is there any plan to provide a version for Nokia 6136 ?
Alternatively, would it be possible to use its IMPS client instead of the Jaiku software ?

I am sure the community would rather have a alpha version full of bugs to use on their nifty nokia phones than no version.
I know my n73 is certainly wishing it could see what the fuss is about.
Besides how else will you squash bugs?

How about releasing the software for smartphones too?
